Seems the norm for this winter. On the bright side we are but eight days away until Valentines day! Valentines Day along the Upper Texas Coast is the day you Spring prune your roses. I absolutely love my roses and the year round flowers. Although they are not happy campers this winter as we have had too much rain. Only my miniature roses are happy campers as they are under the eave of my home thus slightly less water. My other spring chores for this spring is to go through the entire storage spaces and purge like crazy! I start this coming week with our closets. Larry wants to start on building the house at the ranch. We just haven't cleared out the I do not need this stuff in 10 years. James took care of the garage last year purging stuff!<br />
<br />
I have been busy busy working on the display for the Lowline Booth for the International Room at HLSR. Making sure Larry stays on a low low low fat diet. What spare time I have had I have been scrapping for SBC Scrapbook Challenges.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://scrapbookchallenges.com/sketch-426/" target="_blank"><b>Sketch #426</b></a> totally threw me for a loop!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://scrapbookchallenges.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/426.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://scrapbookchallenges.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/426.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then Brynn gave me clue, she's an 8 1/2x 11 scrapper. So I deconstructed the sketch and came up with this. No journaling as this layout gores in my son's scrapbook for him to journal. Totally didn't like it but it is ok if one doesn't like what one creates.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/302284-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/302284-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://scrapbookchallenges.com/february-journaling-challenge/" target="_blank">Next Challenge from SBC</a>!</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/303573-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/303573-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I absolutely loved James' wonderful picture of our cat 'Q'! When we adopted her from Second Chance Pets she came with the name "Q-Tip." Yuck! So promptly shortened! So I needed a quote, well it's a never ending chore vacuuming behind "Q's" never ending huge amount of fur she leaves behind.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/303513-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/303513-490.jpg" height="320" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
Until Next Time!<br />

I started out the year like gang busters on Blogging! Then it all came to a screeching halt on the 9th! Larry had a gall bladder attack and spent a week in the hospital! I spent all but one night with him. On morning #2 I awoke with a sore throat and headed straight to the doctor. The hospital's greatest number of patients were there for #1 Pneumonia and #2 the Flu! Even though I had no fever my doctor gave me a round of really high powered antibiotics because of my now living at the hospital. In the last couple of days I have finally gotten over that bug! Larry is doing fine and will find out today when his surgeon will schedule his gall bladder surgery.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just before this all happened I applied for SBC - Scrapbook Challenges Design Team! Whoop! I made it! There are some fantastic creativity flowing in this group of ladies! It has been a lot of fun getting to know the ladies who are on the team! So stop by and have some fun with the terrific sketches and challenges Brynn creates!</div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love love that I have spent every spare minute at my table this month! I am still working on the Kathy Orta mini album, Also included are my design team work and Larry's Christmas Present is just about done, the Basic Grey Calendar!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I pulled my Counterfeit Kit Challenge January Kit to create my first two layouts for SBC! The second layout will be shared on a later post next month. Sketch #425 was right up my alley and loved working on some older photos! My show steer my Senior year FFA Project along with a couple of other friends with their steers! Dirty, Messy, was my theme and I think I hit the nail on the head so to speak.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I especially love the Challenges for SBC! My first mood board challenge and one I truly loved! The colors and quote remind me of a spring thunderstorm in Central Texas. I had no photos printed of the multitude of photos I have of spring storms. I had one printed of a fall storm so colors didn't match. I really need a photo printer! Shifted gears and found a photo that seemed to pull me towards the mood board in the colors and eclectic nature of the sculpture and mood board. I spent about 20 minutes just studying this sculpture! Some older Heidi Grace papers were perfect!</div>

Now back to my table.....it's calling me! I am loving all the inspiration!</div>

There was a post on message board I am active on that asked for you opinion of what were your favorite Top 10 Creations for the year. Since I wrote my response I wish I could have added more.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I thought I would post my favorites from 2013 today and my thoughts!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I will start with the two courthouses I worked on this past year and still working on!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/274232-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/274232-490.jpg" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have enough layouts in the first of many albums that I needed a title page for the album even though I still need to completely photograph three of the five counties I have lived in. So far to date I think this is the best photo I have taken of a courthouse I have photographed. I've only photographed or partially photographed 18 courthouse and six or seven I need to return to because of renovation work. This is Anderson County County Courthouse. I know the pink azalea doesn't match the papers!!! But....Texas' official colors are red, white and blue!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277570-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277570-490.jpg" height="318" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If my mind serves me correctly this was a layout I did after putting together a kit for CKCB. Older stuff and really wanting to add just a hint of mixed media application. This Brazos County Courthouse. The only photo I took and I took several to make sure one turned out well. Since ;under construction I will return probably this summer on a Sunday morning since the Bryan/College Station area is a zoo!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/274222-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/274222-490.jpg" height="317" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this photo I got kind of warped in my thinking trying to be humorous. I asked Larry to take me down to the courthouse on Christmas Day, 2013. Actually I was hoping to find a nativity scene! Sadly not but Van Zandt County did in 2013 and Houston County had one this year. Both counties with suits brought against them. Van Zandt won their lawsuit and the State of Texas will help with the suit brought against Houston County. Honestly I am tired of the "intolerance" crap that goes with religion in this country. Get over being offended people.....I am never offended by your practice or lack of practice of religion. What I am offended by is your treading on the Constitution! And true atheists and agnostics are benevolent people who don't tread on other's belief systems! 'Nuff said on my politics.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did find something though not often seen today but so much a part of my childhood. A fallout shelter sign! It was fun to scrap it alone! Oh....and the other thing I found at the courthouse.....yep on Christmas Day somebody locked Santa in the Courthouse. I wonder if Santa got in trouble and was waiting on a judge? Stay tuned for that layout!!! Maybe sometime this year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281983-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281983-490.jpg" height="309" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also started to scrap Project Life last year. Once I ran out of photos in March I didn't print any more. I have no idea why....just didn't but I love how fast it is and how I proved I could keep up! Once I get done with the mini I plan to catch up! I wasn't a big picture taker this past year either! And so far not this year either!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of all the photos I scrapped for the Life Photo Display at Mom's Birthday this was my favorite one and made the list of Top Ten!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/293883-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/293883-490.jpg" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is an 8x8 layout which was just an amazing work in my mind. I do not often fussy cut except G45! There is so much goodness to fussy cut in Raining Cats and Dogs! On top of that the Prima wood veneer matches the dress the little one is wearing on paper!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the last one I will share and it too, made my Top 10. I just love it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/293893-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/293893-490.jpg" height="317" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Most of the layouts I did for Mom's party were 8x8 and this one was, too! I loved what few papers I had purchased when the original Times Nouveau came out and had just scraps left! It was also my first papers from G45. With the Collector's Edition it was a given and must have! I will probably regret not buying two!!! As I scrapped this photo of my Great Aunt and Mother I was stunned to see what I saw between papers and photo. The car in the photo has the exact same styling in the photograph! My Aunt Betty's coat almost the same styling as the model to left of photo. How sweet to have 1930's period specific papers to go with a late 1935 photo! Love it!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As I thought about this post the song sung by Barbara Streisand came to mind, 'My Favorite Things.' I have way to many favorite things in my Paper Crafting Addiction! My absolute favorite thing in paper crafting are mini albums. They truly make me Happy! The mini's I have created have all gone to someone as a gift. I have drooled over hours and hours of videos on You Tube of beautiful mini albums. My favorites are ALWAYS done with Graphic 45. I am a see and do creator as I personally don't have a creative bone in my body to use a cliche! I have taught myself to be creative and I still have what I call disasters occur! I rarely throw them out, as I want to remind myself not to do what I did.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My favorite mini albums are ones created from scratch with chipboard. A scrappy friend last summer discovered such minis and she lead me to numerous videos. In fact in my groups monthly crop in June she spent almost the whole crop watching videos. She describes herself in the same way I do, a see and do person. As I dove into hours of watching videos and still watch them I decided the best thing for me was to purchase a <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Tutorials_c3.htm" target="_blank">Kathy Orta tutorial</a>. I am sure I will purchase many more until one day I will just sit down and create my own. The album I chose was the <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Lapbook-2-TUT-065.htm" target="_blank">Lapbook 2</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/images/13851472643371503836237.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/images/13851472643371503836237.jpeg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I promptly made a mistake in the construction but I so love the result!!! I put a page in before adding the wallet feature. Yet I found another place for the wallets that works perfectly! As we say, mistakes can sometimes be beautiful! I plan on using the same mini for two additional albums for Christmas presents for my brothers! only this time the wallets will be in the correct place and the mistake will be added, too! I just need one more set of papers for them. I even got bored one night and quickly constructed the second cover now waiting for the paper.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The current album is for a very dear friend who is about to become a Grandmother. In fact her granddaughter's due date is today! I should be done with the album in the next three weeks. What a fantastic interactive album! Nana can share with her granddaughter as she gets older! I can see the picture in my mind of my friend with her granddaughter on her lap as 2-3 year old enjoying looking at her photos and listening to Nana's stories behind the photos! The perfect line for the album is <a href="http://www.g45papers.com/products/deluxe-collector's-edition-category/baby-2-bride-deluxe-collector's-edition" target="_blank">Graphic 45 Baby to Bride Collector's Addition</a>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/products/0000/191/191613-300x300-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/products/0000/191/191613-300x300-1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can't wait to show it off when I am done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The second album will be done with <a href="http://www.bobunny.com/altitude.html" target="_blank">Bo Bunny Altitude</a> for my youngest brother's family who are avid skiers!! Love this collection and delighted with Bo Bunny's addition of stamps in their lines!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/i/thumbnails/lp_bb_altitude.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.acherryontop.com/i/thumbnails/lp_bb_altitude.jpg" height="121" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The third album will be made with <a href="http://www.g45papers.com/products/sweet-sentiments-category" target="_blank">Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments</a> for my other brother. I thought a spring album perfect for them with the celebration of Easter in mind which is perfect with how involved they are in their church!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/i/thumbnails/lp_g45_sweet2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.acherryontop.com/i/thumbnails/lp_g45_sweet2.jpg" height="68" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As always I think way to far in advance! I just love love the <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Contessa-Scrapbook-TUT-051.htm" target="_blank">Kathy Orta Contessa Album</a>!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/images/1384108940378-705214958.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/images/1384108940378-705214958.jpeg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And there are many more tutorials I would love love to have!!! I just have to see where I am by the end of 2015. Kathy is an amazing artist!</div>

I have spent the last half of 2014 really missing participating over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog!!! With Mom's 80th birthday, I was creating her birthday most of the summer and fall. I love making my own kit from my stash! I have been going over the top large! Yet again, I am in the middle of creating for a friend and I need some me time creating for me. I forced myself into a quickly put together a kit to do several things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Small kit!!! I did it....it's small!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enough embellishments to make me happy....did that, too!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Keep my 12x12 papers to 6 or under....did that, too, with five! I do have lots of coordinating scraps!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well I did remember I had a 6x6 paper from Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the same time I allowed myself one thing to go overboard on....I chose three alphas sets!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Best part it all fits nicely in a 13 x13 Ziploc with room to spare!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now with that all said, I reserve several things I can use in my creations:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1) Cardstock</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2) Flower Stash</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2) Inks, mists, paints, twine, DMC Floss</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3) Stencils</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4) Dies</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I seem to be in a real matting mode of late with photos and just in general wanting more dimension. I think it is due to working so much with G45 for Mom's birthday. I also just stocked up on cardstock! Couldn't miss the deal HSN had on Bazzill. I've purchased two boxes!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So what inspired me....first the colors and second was Angela with this comment on her blog!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #535353; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20.7900009155273px; text-align: start;">I need to get some serious stash busting done this year, and the </span><a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/" style="background-color: white; color: #ae7400; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20.7900009155273px; text-align: start; text-decoration: none;">Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog</a><span style="background-color: white; color: #535353; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20.7900009155273px; text-align: start;"> is one way of getting that stash combined into up to date, fashionable, and appealing craft kits.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #535353; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20.7900009155273px; text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #535353; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20.7900009155273px; text-align: start;">Thank you Angela</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My Kit!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300579-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300579-490.jpg" height="265" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300580-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300580-490.jpg" height="317" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So where did my mind go for the kit.....after the paper......I needed some gold and I am not a foil, glittery, silver or gold person....then remembered I had some of the Pink Paislee Luxe Rubons. Then the rest came quickly together! I can get a fun layout from my kit or a wonderful detailed layout!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thank you for stopping by and consider playing along with the <b><a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2015/01/january-counterfeit-kit-reveal-hop.html" target="_blank">Counterfeit Kit Challenge!</a></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
Although I admonished my adult son who took this photo heading into Houston since he's attending University of Houston, I still couldn't help but laugh. It had been a long time since I had seen someone alter their "FORD" on their truck! Then again....that large a "FORD" is no longer on the tailgate!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300592-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300592-490.jpg" height="320" width="319" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Super easy super fun sketch to work with for a photo that will always lighten my day. Loved using Basic Grey Highline to work with the sketch. It is such a happy line!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300593-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300593-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time!</div>

Time definitely just keeps flying! We spend our time at home on this evening!<br />
<br />
For the last day of 2014 still taking a break from the mini album I have two layouts on the table. I have one of James' photos that brings back memories that always made people laugh! When I printed James' photos to scrap for him I died laughing and decided to wait for the right line to scrap it with and the right inspiration. I found it yesterday going through the Scrapbook Challenges website, Sketch #347.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://scrapbookchallenges.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Sketch347_zpsd4aee417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://scrapbookchallenges.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Sketch347_zpsd4aee417.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The line I chose to do this layout is Basic Grey Highline! I just purchased this stencil which will work perfectly using a little Gesso and Art Anthology Dimensional Paints!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3N9sbDRH6LIe1vAiYftaJK97iiCpDw-ek2JM52VOyI3xljoIO3A" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3N9sbDRH6LIe1vAiYftaJK97iiCpDw-ek2JM52VOyI3xljoIO3A" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The second layout on the table is a photos of the Throckmorton County Veterens Memorial on the County Courthouse Grounds using Bo Bunny Liberty and Anthem as well as maybe a tidbit of Monte Paper Mill Patriots line.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yesterday I finished and entered my layout in the A Cherry on Top's Becky Fleck Sketch Challenge #84. Awesome Sketch!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/299776-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/299776-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took lots of liberty on this sketch!!! I used a single 4x6 photo a 4x6 envelope and one of those darling 7 Gypsies ATC File Folders instead of three photos! Since it the layout has a frame I decide to build my own frame instead of the way the sketch frames the focal point! I love love the result!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300118-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/300118-490.jpg" height="318" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The photo is of the North Face Elevations of Throckmorton County Courthouse pre-restoration, with the courthouse empty awaiting start of renvovation. It will be interesting to return and photograph the courthouse! I have been following the renovation and the project just thrills me to watch the process!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'd like to thank <a href="http://suzassippi.blogspot.com/2014/06/restoration-of-throckmorton-county.html" target="_blank">Suzassippi's Lottabussa County Chronicles</a> for the photos below! Be sure to visit her post as there are some other great photos of the restoration!</div>

So what have I been up to.....playing with paper through the summer into fall to celebrate my Mother's 80th Birthday in November. What fun to use Graphic 45 Time to Celebrate to do a Life Photo Display and Decorations for her HUGE party. I also used some other lines as needed depending on the photo(s). More to come later as I scrap the photos of the party!</div>

For many who are on CKCB Design Team and participate they have read my undying passion for Bad Weather on my May 2 post! Love it and the adrenaline rush I get! Heck I've always been an adrenaline junkie since I can remember. Barrel Racing with my first two horses as a teenager, swimming on a swim team as a child and teenager, showing our Arabians, and I get the same rush when I walk in the show ring showing our cattle although no speed to it....nice and slow. But what really sets me off into a huge adrenaline rush is bad weather. At the same time I need to know I am as safe as I can be at that moment. Like you will find me running for shelter as soon as I hear thunder because of almost being struck twice. My husband shakes his head when I'm following chasers live, Chaser TV.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I promised to get some photos I got as Larry and I drove into a severe storm just north of Calvert in March. I'm sorry I didn't get the PL Page done on this one but will eventually. Only four pictures worth printing and one is pretty blurry but thought I would share a great wall cloud with no rotation in it. They are taken with my iPhone and we didn't stop the pickup so they show bleary.</div>

Great wall cloud!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281994-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281994-490.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Looking north hard to see structure but wall cloud to right of the photo.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281995-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281995-490.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Really blurry but the wall cloud itself from middle to right was pretty awesome.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281996-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281996-490.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally underneath the cloud deck with the wall cloud headed northeast and away from us it now looks to have developed a hail core in the storm.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I thought I would share day before yesterday some photos online I found which are awesome of a warm air funnel in the Manvel/Alvin area of Houston. A short hop from our Houston area home of 20 miles and no I didn't see it but this funnel was absolutely gorgeous with the way the light was hitting it. Saw one of the photos on the Weather Channel yesterday of this funnel and another coming out of the same wall cloud. A warm air funnel is the land version of water spout. This storm was never tornado warned. No damage occurred.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So cool and so pretty!</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next two photos of about 17 or 18 are a storm I chased in April 2011. The first photo from my porch at the ranch in Central Texas. Just awesome structure to the storm and just had to run down the highway to see what the storm would produce. You can see in the haze of the second photo the tornado. Had to pull the tornado out of the photo by enlarging it then cropping. The tornado touched down briefly in Coolidge about 15 miles north of where I took the photo.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Final photo to share with you is an awesome photo taken last August by James as we raced home so we wouldn't be rained on. I have other pictures as we waited for our take out order from Chili's at our Houston area home but not as awesome as this one! By the time we were a couple of miles from the house this thing was meaning business. Great structure and rotation in the storm but no funnel emerged.</div>

I have had a month of being frustrated with each and every single layout. What pops in my head has just not worked and they have sat and sat on my desk. Finally I get Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Challenge #1 done today! Sat on my desk a full 9 days before solving my issues with it! Now done I am absolutely thrilled with it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Winters in Texas certainly are not like northern areas of our country. Although you can have a relatively warm day in January within just a few hours it can be snowing or more likely an ice storm. This winter it was in the Top 5 coldest winters for Central Texas. On this day I took these pictures it was in the upper 60's and a delightful January day. As evening came in there were scattered thunderstorms to the west. And when this happens with blow off from storms over 50 miles away we get some GREAT Sunsets! I only had my phone with me and took seven pictures to make sure one would be decent!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281981-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281981-490.jpg" height="318" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using the same kit I put together I created the only other series of photos and choose one from each subject to create the entry I call my CKCB Layout #1. The only layout this month I had no problems putting together but frustrated with finding the right pocket page. These were the only pictures I took in January this year. I chose to use Elle's Studio papers to create the layout with embellishments from Studio Calico and Fancy Pants. I like to keep things simple on my PL pages to get them done quickly. A Jillibean Soup Wise Word "Today" fit perfectly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281983-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/281983-490.jpg" height="309" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The photos taken a few hours before the above photo is of two different cows on our farm with their bull calf in front of them. It may be hard for you to see the calf in the right hand photo but if you look at the cow's front legs you'll see the calf and his little right ear in front of mom's legs. There is a reason why I didn't try to shift around and get better photos. Cows can be very protective of their newborns. We have some that I wouldn't have ever gotten as close to these two cows to get photos as it would have been way too dangerous. The rule of thumb though with a youngster is keep the calf between you and the cow. She won't run over her calf unless rage has set in. Even the cow on the left who is a past show heifer and still loves attention, I wouldn't trust with a ten foot pole with her newborn two days old. Both calves are bull calves.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then four months later and so much has happened in the story of these two babies. The cow on the left lost her calf in early March. Our daughter searched the pasture for two days looking for her calf. She found his carcass. Chances are it was a coyote that got her calf. She's not a particularly bright animal. She has done something to loose two calves in two years. We think she laid down on her first calf at three days of age which typically kills a newborn and isn't that uncommon. We do have a third calf from this cow born this year via embryo transfer in Dec. A really beautiful heifer with her surrogate mother a Longhorn. Longhorns are GREAT mothers! I know of no better mother's in beef cattle then a Longhorn and definitely will protect their calves even to the point of jeopardizing their own safety. One of those mom's I wouldn't get within 50 feet of her newborn and 25 feet when they are 2-6 months old.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The calf on the right had a rough start to life. It isn't uncommon in cattle to have problems for any number of reasons at birth. In the case of this calf he got his head stuck up in between two bones in the spinal column of his mother. Took my daughter four hours to find a vet to come out and pull the calf. At the point the vet got him out the cow had been in labor seven hours. And usually you have a dead calf. Not this boy....the vet was stunned and so was my daughter to see his flank rising and falling once he was on the ground. Immediate attention given to him to make sure he would continue to breathe. Also a quick check of his front legs to be sure they weren't broken as he had a hard pull. As such he has been called Miracle Man ever since. This past Friday the second group of cattle we AI'd (Artificial Inseminated) included this cow. Our reproductive technician found her reproductive tract too torn up for her to ever have a calf again let alone ever have the ability to get pregnant again. This means after weaning she will be culled from the heard and become hamburger in the freezer. Yet her genetics look to have a good chance to be passed on by Miracle Man. He's got the conformation and growth rate we want in our calves. He still has to have his DNA sample pulled to see what his carcass traits are as well as keep showing the needed growth up until 18 months and then pass a reproductive exam. Typically out of 75-80 bull calves we have a year only 1-5 of those will make the cut to become bulls by 18 months. At any point in the evaluation process they can become steers and either go into our freezer or to our restaurant. As a result of our over demanding criteria for a bull we have a waiting list for our bulls we sell. It shows our bulls we grow are that good! And they are not cheap to purchase!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stay tuned to tomorrow's post for more weather pics I promised to do on a layout that won't get done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Yesterday I head straight for my <b><a href="http://www.shopellesstudio.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Elle's Studio</span></a></b> Stash, added some <a href="http://www.simplestories.com/"><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Simple Stories</span></b></a>. I was so inspired by patterns and then colors. Then one sheet of <b><a href="https://websterspages.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Webster's Pages</span></a></b> Color Composition Chalk. Reminded me of playing hopscotch in Elementary as a 3rd and 4th grader during recess. You'll see several hold overs in my kit from last month. My kit looks huge and is. I have two Mother's Day and one Graduation Card to create. And I'm trying some folded cards for the first time. I received the graduation invitation from my best friend's son. Colors of his high school navy and bronze. I have no navy cardstock. Yikes!!! I loved the globe and don't have a globe! I have already purchased both....just got to have those. And will be added to kit upon arrival. I love map paper! Yet....the only map paper I have is the Echo Park North Pole...that doesn't work for spring. But since I always reserve the use of any of my dies, I do have a Texas die! Not a map but close enough!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enjoy my very over-sized kit that is loaded with spring/summer colors and so much fun!</div>

And all those embellishments fit in my embellishments fit in my project basket except for the arrow packages! As always all of my inks, mists, dies, embroidery floss and <b><a href="http://www.artanthologyinc.com/">Art Anthology</a></b> Paints are included. This month I also reserve the use of my old Creative Memories Alphas, any cardstock, my stencils/masks and Bakers Twine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm thinking about getting caught up on my Project Life with all the Simple Stories and Fancy Pants The Good Life Brag Book. I don't do daily or even weekly, just when I'm taking photos. Had to add some flairs, too. Added veneers which always make me happy! And some die cuts! Just oodles of great items to play with! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was yesterday when I put the kit together. Now to this point I have not read the rest of the post on kits this month or gone through the hop! I was just too excited over the kits! OMG....what do I find as Challenge #1......WEATHER! I have to use a sun or clouds or raindrops on my project. As a rancher weather is very important to us. We need to know the weather each day in order to get the work done. A college Agronomy professor and going through numerous tropical storms living on the Gulf Coast and finally a hurricane for the first time in 1983 with Alicia sent me down the road to my fascination with weather. I'm a lover of all things our planet can through at us called weather. I want to be like my Agronomy professor and understand it by just looking at the sky as he could. I've spent years trying to learn weather and am fascinated with severe storms. Weather Spotter Training in 1993 really propelled me forward in understanding how severe storms move. Once online I spent hours and hours studying the NOAA satellite information. My husband relies on what I have learned about weather. But my passion is severe storms. I've chased a few times while at the ranch. Caught a tornado just once on film in 2011. The next time I chased was a day later. Saw my first storm that was rotating from base to top of the storm and had my first sighting of a mesocyclone in a storm. This chase was a forced one as the storm had been tornadic in Waco and was headed towards the ranch. I chose to leave. The storm dropped another tornado briefly in Groesbeck but I was safely nine miles to the south of Groesbeck and about a 1/2 mile out from under the cloud deck. No damage at the ranch when I returned. The photos you will see for Challenge #1 sometime this month will be of a storm to the north of Calvert as Larry and I were driving to the ranch. He was worried about me dropping my iPhone out of the truck as I took a long series of photos of driving into the storm with my window down. Really sweetie, I don't want to loose these photos. I was thinking that the whole time taking photos....'don't drop your phone'! Shortly afterwards a severe storm warning was given on that particular storm as we came out of it. Gee....I could have told the NWS it was severe! But saw no rotation in the storm. I've seen three tornadoes in my life. One on the Gulf Coast, one in College Station and the one I saw about 15 miles north of our ranch. One other time I was very close to a rain wrapped tornado in East Texas. This was way before the movie Twister came out and I learned what the Cone of Silence is. It's a really erie feeling. It was pouring rain, the birds chirping, my windows opened to the porch. All of a sudden the bird's were chirping away but I couldn't hear the pouring rain. Scared me to death as I had no idea what was happening. About 45 minutes later Larry called me and told me to get over to a neighbors because the house had been torn up by a tornado. Their house was a mile away and the path of the tornado took it about a 1/2 mile from our house. That was way back spring of 1987. I am currently not a storm spotter and only chase when I feel safe and near home where I know the roads.. <span style="color: #cc0000;">Warning: Chasing is hazardous and not worth putting your life in danger!. If a tornado warning is given for your area seek shelter immediately!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My daughter took a great photo with her iPhone of a storm this past week of a beautiful supercell to the northwest of the ranch about 50 miles on the same day Arkansas dealt with the tornadic storms in their state. Have to print that one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry for being side tracked...I do love agriculture and bad weather. I just want to be some place safe during bad weather.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am really looking forward to using my kit, the challenges and of course the NSD Celebration at <a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>CKCB</b></span></a> and <a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/"><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">ACOT</span></b></a>!! By the way ACOT is having one of their 20% off code offered today. If you spend a minimum of a hair over $50 and use the code then your entire cost will be less then the $50. I love wildlife and our cattle. I either don't have my camera with me or if I do the animal I'm wanting to photograph is gone if wildlife. I also love photographing the cattle. My camera is full of photos. Getting that perfect shot is next to impossible. And I get three or four dozen of those perfect shots a year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This post was spurred on by Sketchy Business and Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog April's Challenge #3, Big Titles. Thank you so much for the inspiration this month at <b><a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;">CKCB</span></a></b>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My first layout is Challenge #3, at CKCB and using a sketch from <b><a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/"><span style="color: #cc0000;">ACOT's</span></a></b> April's Pet Challenge. But the end result is nothing like the sketch. I loved this challenge but didn't choose any bold alphas to use this month. What I did put in my kit which I love was Amy Tangerines Bold Word Thickers. I also had this picture printed in like forever, a photo of one of our bulls at the ranch, Key Wooden Pickle 901W as an 18 month old. These pictures were taken right after his purchase as we do all of the cattle. Stored in our database should any of our cattle be stolen. We don't treat our cattle like pets, they are just too big and can be dangerous. Any livestock are dangerous, including pigs, sheep and goats. Their low center of gravity can do some damage to knees. Bulls are a given if agitated. But that cow is even more so protecting her calf. I've watched a 2400 lb bull of ours with no horns toss a 2000 lb round bale right over the fence you see in front of you in the layout like it was a rubber ball. He wasn't mad, just showing off his strength to a bull on the other side of the fence. Sometimes they just do it to be whatever with no other bovine around. It's kind of like watching the males of our own species and the "HE" man stuff they do around their buddies. Not much difference between the species in that regard, males love to show off strength of character. So meet Pickle at 18 months now a mature handsome bull. The ....to be continued... title comes from him out on lease for two years and returning last year with his first babies arriving this year for us. It's always fun to see new calves and the hope it brings the genetics matched up right to produce that next special bull who will then pass on his genetics.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/279088-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/279088-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love sketches and the next layout includes one of those rare times where in the dark you capture your subject dead center in each photograph. This photo was taken near our Houston are home last November. James was unloading groceries and had gone out for another armful. He startled an owl on his second trip who had landed on the rails of my X-terra. He flew to one of the pines by the garage. He comes gets me and two very careful steps out the garage door and I have two pictures of the first Barred Owl I have ever seen in my life. For this very amateur bird watcher it was such a treat. I used the Sketch Leslie chose Creative Scrappers #251 for <b><a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/04/sketchy-business.html"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Sketchy Business at CKCB</span></a></b>. Circles are definitely one of my favorite elements as in my world I deal with circles all of the time on the ranch. The circle of seasons, of birth and death, or the weather cycles. They provide a very great continuity to my life which I love.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy6OJvH3jNcTgy6ui6L1SY_8qRXaGCMUY_g377uzhEDrzDnEdiildqE3c5VBtqGo5w3tDELpURLBbq7E2T6Gw3cQSIp41i8PHtHnsI7rozMB5u__Xvc4EpuLQsY-8Dk40kgtD7CKCfqBo/s1600/SKETCH+post+Creative_Scrappers_251.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy6OJvH3jNcTgy6ui6L1SY_8qRXaGCMUY_g377uzhEDrzDnEdiildqE3c5VBtqGo5w3tDELpURLBbq7E2T6Gw3cQSIp41i8PHtHnsI7rozMB5u__Xvc4EpuLQsY-8Dk40kgtD7CKCfqBo/s1600/SKETCH+post+Creative_Scrappers_251.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And the result!</div>

How delighted can one be to be inspired by Pocket Pages or Project Life as many scrap in this style!!! I started PL this year. Before starting Project Life this year I scrapped my first PL style albums with my Parent's New Zealand Vacation photos back in 2008. Now I am also working on my Mother's and Grandmother's Alaska Cruise Album. PL and PL Style Albums are supper fast and so easy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I almost jumped for joy when I saw this challenge. Perfect to do the third page in a series of photos Mom took of Zu and her son AC. I can and sometimes do a double page spread, but I much prefer to a single page at a time for double page spreads. Last year I did the first two pages. The last one still needed to be done and this Challenge was perfect.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As written from <a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/04/challenge-2-pocket-page-inspiration.html"><span style="color: red;"><b>CKCB Blog ~ Challenge #2</b></span></a>: Pocket Page Inspiration: Use a 3x4 or 4x6 card (does not have to be a pocket scrapbooking card, can be cutdown from your own paper) on your next project. Use it as a sentiment on a card or as a layering element on a layout. You can also bind a bunch together to make a mini album.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/278636-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/278636-490.jpg" height="320" width="319" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My 4x6 card turned out to be both title and journaling card! No journaling as these photos come from my mother's horse album. I love love the Studio Calico Farm Animal Veneers. To my delight the silhouette veneers are of Arabians!!! I also made a Yo-Yo for this layout for something Puffy in the CSI Case File #122 Evidence. The Roller Doodle Stamp was just too much fun with a little Prima Chalk Inks.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yes, the layout turned out to look somewhat like a pocket page, but the first of the three layouts was actually a sketch challenge last summer at ACOT to scrap a Becky Fleck sketch. Second layout below is one to match the first and of course the above makes the third.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you for taking a peek today at my blog.</div>

I am so excited to be participating in the <b><a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f1c232;">Counterfeit Kit Challenge</span></a></b> Members Blog Hop! A monthly feature to see the wonderful layouts, cards, etc made this month! I am always blown away by the creativity seen in members creations!<br />
<br />
You should have arrived here from <a href="http://celtichouse.blogspot.co.uk/" style="color: #f1c232; font-weight: bold;" target="_blank">Virginia's Blog</a>.<span style="color: #f1c232;"> </span>Her blog is absolutely fabulous! I wish I had the speed to create as she does!!!<br />
<br />
I struggle with creativity and sometimes draw a total block with a new item that comes on the market. Such an item is Washi Tape for me when it came on the market. April Challenge #1 was a must do for me! The challenge was to choose the blog design from one of the Master Forgers as inspiration. Lesley's blog back ground is mounds of Washi Tape....columns and columns of Washi Tape. I chose six rolls of washi to again try to use the tape. This was certainly the perfect challenge to do so. I decided to take some Carta Bella cardstock and make my own background using one of the stencils and washi tape I chose for my kit.<br />
<br />
I also decided to use as evidence from the CSI Case File 112, something puffy! I just love Yo-Yos and made two from Moda Simply Style 2x2 square cloth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Yet, the most treasured element of the page is my daughter, Lynn, with a Selfie Photo! The BEST thing I ever did in my life is to have my two beautiful children Lynn and James now both mid-20's.<br />

Yes of course I have written many times I host the <b><a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=252421&p=4725668#p4725668" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Heritage Challenge</span></a></b> at <a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">A Cherry on Top</span></b></a>! I wanted something fun this month! And the rules are:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Choose papers released any time in the last 18 months to 2 years. Find the popular color pallet for the time period the photo was taken and use those colors. The photo must date before the year 2000. The subject may be anything with one of two qualifications or both: If people must be one generation older then you. If a place it must be of historical value. Or do both.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then there are 5 Additional Twists to get more entries! So hop over to the April Heritage Challenge and join the ACOT community for some amazing challenges.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/276998-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/276998-490.jpg" height="314" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This layout was my example for the challenge. My grandparents in front of their house near Wilmington, NC. The house overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway! I love this photograph of those gorgeous true floor to ceiling windows. Yes, storm windows not even blown out during Hurricane Hazel. My grandmother's favorite place during a hurricane was right in front of those windows. Crazy I know. On the back in my grandmother's handwriting was 'Red & Edie 1960?' What fun to see how difference in popular colors from the late 50's to early '60's then 10 years later.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until Next Time and Have a Blessed Day!</div>

Last weekend I got into my kit since I just love the colors and papers I chose. In the Spring of 2012 I was in College Station on a weekend and decided to stop in Bryan to photograph the Brazos County Courthouse. Much to my chagrin it was undergoing some renovation. So I decided to take just one photograph. I printed it about six months ago and never took a really good look at the photo until I pulled it to scrap. WOW....there before me in the mirrored glass is the crane and clouds. How cool!<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
I took the option to pull some white cardstock. I should have taken the photo outside so it wouldn't have turned the color of blue it did. Some mist, some bubble wrap and ink set my background and the rest came really quickly.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277570-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277570-490.jpg" height="318" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stop by and see some amazing work by the design team and those who participate at <b><a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog</a></b> via Mr. Linky's Widget!</div>

Your talking years of growing gardens between Larry and I. Both have helped Dad in Larry's case and my Grandparents in their huge garden. We have never had a mass failure two year in a row. I suspect the soil needs huge amending....it sure can grow some grass though for the cattle. We decided to just put raised beds in until we move permanently to the ranch where we can amend our soil. Yes, insect problems, but I've had young squash live through this. Seed didn't come up or if did the plants died. Yes....soil tests would benefit.<br />
<br />
I did this layout for the Sketch Thursday challenge over at Elle's Studio Blog!!! I love loved the sketch:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shopellesstudio.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/sketch-04.03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.shopellesstudio.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/sketch-04.03.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The sketch was right up my alley. Very linear which so appealed to me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And my layout!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277559-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277559-490.jpg" height="320" width="319" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Love how it turned out!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time!</div>

...absent from blogging! But I've also been busy as a bee! Ranch, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, seedstock cattle sales, scrapping and a host of other things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This month I can finally return to participate in one of my favorite blog Challenges this month, <a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/04/aprils-counterfeit-kit-and-guest.html" target="_blank">Counterfeit Kit Challenge</a>. This month is a little switch on how to build your kit from <b><a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/" target="_blank">CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration</a></b>! Here's Case File # 112 we needed to use to build our kit.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVsJ5o_DxSdPCM9rAW5S7bVHhDAZP7JUsOodXGzfFLY2DZavT4B29MHsoQf872VLpQFgd78Gn0zSPO4E-7PkZRXFweCcvTNFFLqP6vW-DlFaTtxSEJNeVaPHnhLFF8KdqrAgxFAXwQVHmi/s1600/112flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVsJ5o_DxSdPCM9rAW5S7bVHhDAZP7JUsOodXGzfFLY2DZavT4B29MHsoQf872VLpQFgd78Gn0zSPO4E-7PkZRXFweCcvTNFFLqP6vW-DlFaTtxSEJNeVaPHnhLFF8KdqrAgxFAXwQVHmi/s1600/112flat.jpg" height="233" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What great fun I had building my kit. I promised my self once again I would keep it small. Are you kidding! Yet again very embellishment top heavy! But oh....I ended up loving the colors and choosing embellishments from the list. I didn't quite have the same colors of green in the pallet but I still love how the kit came out. Will I kill the kit at the end of the month. Probably not. But lots of room in the kit to do layouts, cards and Project Life. Yes, I decide to scrap this year's photos via PL style my way. My way is both pocket and 12x12 layouts as well as taking photos when I want to take photos and not bound to a weekly layout. I also allowed this kit to let me play with some of the other albums I'm working on like my mother's horse album, heritage album and ranching photos.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Meet my April Kit: Spring Fling</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lynnette gave me the idea to hit my scrap box and I put scraps together from Carta Bella, Webster's Pages and scraps from long ago via Creative Memories.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277077-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277077-490.jpg" height="306" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then off to the Cardstock for the kit. Oh yes....got to use up that old die-cut cardstock! Added some more Bazzill and Carta Bella. Also a great way to display the stencils, washi tape and the 2x2 pack of Moda Simply Style Fabric squares that will be used for something puffy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277073-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277073-490.jpg" height="286" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then on to my Pattern Papers. Oh my what an eclectic set! Full pattern papers from Carta Bella So Noted as some of the scraps are from same. Other manufactures include Basic Grey, Elle's Studio, October Afternoon, Webster's Pages, Bo Bunny, Crate Paper, Basic Grey, Amy Tangerine, and Fancy Pants.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277076-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277076-490.jpg" height="207" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh lets start off embellishments with stickers and alphas and stamps!!! Also a great way to display a pocket for journaling since I get so frustrated trying to die cut vellum. Also included something pleated....navy seems to be the new "IT" blue this spring. LOL...don't machine sew as my fingers and sewing machine needles don't like each other! This pleated cloth came in one of my Paper Bakery Kits.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277080-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277080-490.jpg" height="299" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I said very top heavy on embellishments! LOL....they do fit in one medium wicker gathering basket along with my Simple Stories Oh Snap cards and still room to spare. Now the colors not in the pallet won't be used except for that wonderful "Lovely" word! I do reserve that one word and the neutrals in the various embellishments!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277074-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/277074-490.jpg" height="307" width="320" /></a></div>

And finally not shown but can and most likely will be included: One embellishment from Jillibean Soup Corrugated Shapes Words I found looking at me on my scrap table after I took my photos. I also include all of my Black and White Bazzill Cardstock, Dies, Inks, Mists and Art Anthology Paints!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, Spring has sprung....calves are growing in the pasture playing calf games, the Texas Wildflowers are blooming and we had our first round of severe storms last week and more storms today into tomorrow. Already have photos of a wall cloud last week!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We head for Ft. Worth for a meeting with Ft. Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo to see if they will accept the Lowlines into the show next year! Keeping fingers crossed they go in as a beef breed and not specialty breed. Kids are keeping fort at both houses on Friday so look for my first layout next week with my kit!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until Next Time!</div>

I literally have been very absent! I've been working on a variety of projects through November, December and the first part of January. On top of that Larry's Uncle went to be with the Lord on Jan. 1st. Rough start to the New Year for our family.<br />
<br />
Just one more little item, I'll be once again changing my blog name in the next week! The current one is just too long. I've decided on 'A Rancher's Scrapbook'.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
November and December were taken up with four mini albums as presents for family members.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271681-200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271681-200.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished the Basic Grey Calendar for Larry's office at our Oilfield Business. This was may favorite page in the calendar! Love love that wonderful man I call my soul mate and husband!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271778-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271778-490.jpg" height="318" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then on to scrap a couple of layouts with a patriotic theme. All those from Texas or visitors to our state recognize this statue on I-45 of Sam Houston: Governor of Tennessee, General of Texas Army who defeated Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, Republic of Texas First President, served Tennessee as a US Representative and served Texas as an US Senator. These photos were taken by my daughter in 1995 when the visitor center was being built.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271772-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271772-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next layout is a photo taken on the 200th Anniversary of our nation. I was in Maine for five weeks with my grandmother. Mom being a beautiful seamstress decided to make a period costume which would match her Appaloosa. Exactly what was going on in our neighborhood, I am not really sure.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271771-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271771-490.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My last layout is my cover page for my Project Life Album. No the colors don't nessacarily go together but they do for me and what I wanted to convey which is subjects near and dear to my heart: Family and Family Heritage, our Ranch and History (Texas Courthouses & Discovering where Family lived )! Yes, I found Santa locked in the Limestone County Courthouse on Christmas Day! Whoops....did Santa finish his rounds and decide to rest here before returning to the North Pole? This month is catch up time for Project Life!!! Hope you'll read the journaling and maybe it will be a little clearer why the photos are a mix mash of topics.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271764-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/271764-490.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am also entering the above layout in the Elle's Studio January 15th Challenge to do a multi photograph layout!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time! </div>

They moved last year and I still don't have their new address. She's a working Mom so I may need to send to her work addy! There are a couple of things to completely finish it, too!<br />
<br />

I love seeing all the wonderful talent out there!<br />
<br />
Today was <a href="http://ellesstudio.blogspot.com/2013/12/celebrate-december-sketch_12.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Elle's Studio</span></a>, YAY I won the GC! Thank you so much! On to <a href="http://mymindseye.typepad.com/blog/2013/12/mixed-media-with-karen-december-2013-edition.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">My Mind's Eye</span></a> with a Mixed Media Card today, which was gorgeous! I love playing with Mixed Media! Then I had this little bell go off to take a look at what was created with Dapper Dan a few minutes ago!<br />
<br />
First let me say I am not normally a Glitz Design Gal until Dapper Dan came out! I have received some of Glitz Design in my <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Paper Bakery Kits</span></a> and Sarah just makes using Glitz papers easy! I was smitten right from the start with <a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/shop/company/glitz_design/line/dapper_dan" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Dapper Dan</span></a>! Right to the top of my list as must have! Started collecting the embellies first and then purchased the Collection Pack at ACOT's Black Friday Sale. Time to start using those supplies thus to take a peek at the creations on Glitz Design Blog! OMG one is definitely in for a treat! I know I am going to have to go through Christmas first! Gorgeous creations! And then.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://glitzitnow.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/mikik_092616_perfect-tree_GG-scr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://glitzitnow.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/mikik_092616_perfect-tree_GG-scr.jpg" width="295" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh my goodness.....I am totally smitten!!! Dapper Dan, Findley and Hello December used in creating this magnificent layout! I just had to <a href="http://glitzitnow.com/blog/?p=5113#comment-243558" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">share</span></a>!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now back to looking for more beautiful Dapper Dan layouts!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time!</div>
<br />Texas Cattlewomanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02577536090242848857noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601431026863177538.post-79030361616246886892013-12-10T16:45:00.002-06:002013-12-11T13:14:58.161-06:00UH Transfer<div style="text-align: center;">
I've diligently been working on minis as presents for Christmas. Tired of that I switched Sunday to working on a layout for Sketch Thursday at Elle's Studio Blog! It's Celebrate December at Elle's Studio Blog and the projects the design team is creating are amazing!!! So much so I broke down and ordered Noel Papers and a few other items from the line. As an economist it's fun to see how a blog can push the consumer to purchase! Hopefully my package will arrive in time for me to have some fun with it for this week's sketch! I honestly don't know why I purchased the line as I have way to many Christmas Goodies in my existing stash and not enough photos to scrap and use up the papers. I really think it was the papers with the snow that took me in because I have this great photo of Belle, one of our German Shorthair Pointers, in the snow. Yes you heard right: SNOW. One of those rare occasions we get snow at the ranch. Plus, Elle's Studio products are just soooooo much fun to work with!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love love the layout I created using this <a href="http://ellesstudio.blogspot.com/2013/12/celebrate-december-sketch.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">sketch</span></a>:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfBfFQ3DU7oGyIYznvj633j3WZQ3uv-gf7BsQQ4jxUmXm4oVoXLm9v5mrudO7J7rA1Te26XT7UTBA899pDc02xsgHGj7_9THRIO7Rox9dWBa8tdL0-sFwLdUnOOWKz7PHdzzdQulHT1ks/s1600/sketch+12.05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfBfFQ3DU7oGyIYznvj633j3WZQ3uv-gf7BsQQ4jxUmXm4oVoXLm9v5mrudO7J7rA1Te26XT7UTBA899pDc02xsgHGj7_9THRIO7Rox9dWBa8tdL0-sFwLdUnOOWKz7PHdzzdQulHT1ks/s320/sketch+12.05.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
My layout is a photo of my son James on the left and one of his best friends Robert on the right. James asked me in the Fall of 2009 to go to new student orientation at University of Houston. I was amazed at how much the campus had change as I not been on campus since high school, mid 70's. The young men were having such a good time playing to my cell phone camera in front of one of the large number of sculptures on campus.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/268283-490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" src="http://sbing.com/i/gallery2/268283-490.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I scrap James' photos for him. This layout he really really liked and it will go in his scrapbook. There are still three more to scrap. Mom will eventually scrap the same four photos for herself.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And just one more plug for this great Texas Tier 1 University!!! Case Keenum, starting quarterback for the Houston Texans is a graduate of University of Houston. What a joy it was to watch Case during the 2011 season take the UH Cougars to a winning season! A product of Coach Sumlin, now coaching at Texas A&M. He is such a great quarterback to watch work his magic, over 300 yards passing in his last game...sadly one the Texans lost.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
James is still in school at UofH and Robert has since transferred to UT-El Paso because his fiance is in med school there.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time.</div>
Texas Cattlewomanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02577536090242848857noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601431026863177538.post-32185379119455930732013-11-22T19:00:00.000-06:002013-11-22T19:00:31.669-06:00Throckmorton County - Throckmorton, TXThis weekend will host the first winter storm to come into Texas. No problems but rain for the upper coast and unbelievable humidity which will make it feel a whole lot colder in Houston area then North Texas this weekend. Looks like I-20 north will be an ice storm. At the ranch it's one of those things where the weatherman is covering his backside. If they get a sure enough ice storm the weatherman has covered his backside. And if they do it still won't be that bad as temps jump into low to mid 40's, ice gone each morning. Since I did the first layout of buildings surrounding the courthouse and was thinking about what to write on my blog.....wonder what Throckmorton will look like....ice, ice and more ice. Sigh......I'm glad I'm not in North Texas this weekend. I'm holding down fort in Houston area home. Probably won't even turn on the heat.<br />

So here's the park bench I talked about in Pioneer Life post. RAB Brand..... and around the corner the Sign in Pioneer Plaza (where sculpture is) that pays tribute to early Cattle Ranching in Texas and the <a href="http://www.greatwesterncattletrail.com/along_gwct_a/along_gwct.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Great Western Cattle Trail</span></a>. It is Layout #3 this month for me. Now to do a card next for CKCB!!! Just as soon as I relax from stressing over my mini covers......sigh! Once again trying to figure out how this Cottage Cutz die will work and I don't have enough paper to waste on this the covers!</div>

This was the sketch that inspired me and one I found on Pinterest. Now to give credit where due....this one took a little time to find the how and why. Posted on <a href="http://dearlydee.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/sketch-peonies.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Dearly Dee Blog</span></a> in the UK and then one can trace it to a layout by <a href="http://www.marcypenner.com/projects/barns-and-grids/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Marcie Penner</span></a> for Basic Grey. Kind of fun to see where I got to with this layout. I do want to use the sketch again and hold a little more to the sketch.</div>
